Little Birdie Tinted metallics..Altered Kettle and Wall decor piece

Hi friends,

I am Ruchi here, with two very exciting projects to share with you today.Recently I was sent some

Tinted Metallics by Little Birdie (ITSYBITSY).Thanks a bunch dear Rashmi Harish and Anitha for

sending them over.Hence I am guest designing a post for ITSYBITSY using these tinted metallics. In

order to show case the colors and the metallic sheen of these colors I have chosen two very different

projects. Both the projects have multiple materials like clay, mdf, metal fabric, paper embellishments

which will give you an idea as to how these colors look on them.

Tinted metallics are made to give a rich shine to your project and go on almost all surfaces. If you

attempt some dry brushing, you can achieve great results in all your mix media projects. My first

project is a mix media altered Kettle ,where in I have colored it with metallics. Second project is a

decoupage project on fabric with metallic colors used with stencil.

ALTERED MIX MEDIA KETTLE

WALL  DECOR PIECE

The first thing that I did was to create a shade card for myself,of all the metallics I had in my

stash(which are quite a few ,as i am very fond of using them in my regular projects).I have used black

,kraft and white cardstock to give you an idea .

Also I have chosen two contrasting background colors of my projects to make the comparison more

clear.Kettle has black background and the Fabric piece is light colored.

Project :Kettle.

I am using a regular metal kettle to alter. The textures are created by corrugated sheet(paper) and

cotton twine. The composition contains, left over chipboard pieces, clay embellishments, mdf clock dial

and I have used the embossing paste  of Little birdie to give even more texture. The pics are self

explanatory.

I have pasted all the embellishments with silicone glue and than painted the whole kettle with black

gesso. For the coloring I have chosen Blue Waltz,Caribbean teal and Silver oak.

After coloring I decided to add some flowers!!!.Little Birdie makes the most awesome flowers and I

stocked up quite a bit when i was in Bangalore for the Creativity carnival in December 2018.

The finished project looks like this. The metallics shine and give a very rich look to the whole

composition.

I am extremely happy with the outcome and hope I have inspired you to give it a try.

Project:Wall decor Piece.

As I had explored most of the materials in my above project ,so I thought to use fabric also and see

the effects of the metallics on it.For the same I had an old placemat which I decided to convert into a

wall piece. On this I have done decoupage of tissue/napkin on the placemat. For sealing the tissue ,so

that it does not get damaged by subsequent use of paints,I used Gloss Varnish.

Stencils used are also from ITSYBITSY.

Colors used in this project are Blue waltz,Caribbean teal,Silver oak and Golden Glaze. Also I have

used flowers, embellishments, burlap all from the store.Hope you like the project. The product is

excellent and I recommend to all to give it a try.

Mix media canvas.

Hi friends,

Today I would like to share my new project ,which I have been thinking of doing for quite

sometime. As I was more involved in my classes mainly teaching decoupage,so my hands were

itching to do another canvas with decoupage as the main technique. The size of the canvas is

 12x16inch.(stretched ).

What makes this project a bit different is that I chose to have the image printed on tissue so that the

image looks part of the canvas. After several unsuccessful attempts I was able to get a decent copy out

of my regular printer.Hence I did a fixative layer  on top to seal the ink so it does not react to the

 mod podge.

The canvas was already primed so just did loads of structured texture work through the stencils.I have

used both modelling paste and two in one gesso from Itsybitsy to give textures.Coloring has been

done using color splash sprays and chalk paints from Itsybitsy. Also the flowers are also from Little

Birdie by Itsybitsy.

Have also done some gold foiling using Cadence products.

Hope you like it and are inspired to try something similar.Enjoy.
